itunes: space oddity – david bowie
so i love this song. i love the show C.R.A.Z.Y even more. i remember catching it with jane-jane a year ago. and coming out of the cinema in awe and feeeling like i can’t shake the feeeeling of helplessnesss and awfulness off. but i loved it. it was so real. it was so raw. sigh. why can’t there be more great mooofies like that. and like. lesss of stupid mooofies like american pie. i mean they are funny and all. but it’s brainless and i would really rather watch more C.R.A.Z.y than pie. ah well.
lots to update. after our romantic candlelit dinner on wednesday, dino and i went to a club and it was quite packed. and… most importantly though, the beer was freaking cheap!!! like $3???? oh my god. i love melbourne for that really.
inside the club. full of uni people. and we were the only asians in there. ahahaha. i think my camera is throwing a tantrum.
so. the past few days have been awesome. we found a new place to have cakes. and it’s quite near our home. so yay! it really ain’t too bad. but nothing beats st. kilda’s ‘europa’ of course…
well cake was on friday. then on saturday, we did touristy stuff. -YAY-. visited the largest mall in melbourne. chadstone. it was alright. there’s really nothing spectacular. like pacific mall or whatever it’s called in brisbane is SOOO much better.

[...] Ground Control to Major Tom… [...]

I popped on your page because I was trying to find out to which song belonged the lyrics “this is ground control to major tom”, and I’m surprised to find a mention of C.R.A.Z.Y. It’s a French Canadian movie, and I didn’t expect to find mentions of it outside Canada and maybe France, so what a surprise to find out it’s appreciated at the other side of the planet!
The reason why you see so much bad movies on the shelves is that you aren’t taking the right medias. Common blockbuster cinemas always retell the same story with the same actors and the same directors, but with different flavors. CRAZY making it to such a place in Melbourne is most likely the result of someone in Montreal being a terribly good seller. It sometimes happens (look at Celine Dion), but not too often.
I’d recomment to go for an independant video store or movie theatre or use bittorrent.
If you liked CRAZY for its authenticity, the recommendations that come to my mind are Canadian movies: Juno, Jesus of Montreal, Le Matou. City of God (Brasil) is very authentic too, but oh so harsh. Satoshi Kon’s Tokyo Godfathers, although less realistic, treats very nicely a similar subject. There are some pearls in Italian cinema too (among them, The Son’s Room). And much more.
